Low-lying levels of201Hg from the decay of201Au

The decay of 26.4-min201Au has been investigated using chemically separated sources and Ge(Li), Si(Li), plastic and Nal(Tl) detectors in different singles and coincidence arrangements. The β-disintegration energy was measured to be 1.27 ± 0.10 MeV. Thirteen γ-rays were observed to belong to this decay and the new levels at 543, 549.2, 552.8, 559.1, 605.7, 645.4, 732 and 1188 keV were established in201Hg, in addition to the three previously known excited states below 200 keV.

Glossing wind names in Low German in Salisbury? A newly discovered text in London, British Library, Cotton Vitellius A.xii

It's an essay investigating a text on the names of the winds in ms London, British Library, Cotton Vitellius A.xii (s. xi), where both Latin and vernacular names are given. The text may ultimately derive from Einhard's Life of Charlemagne (ch. 29), but it appears as a self-contained text in the form of a Class Glossary. Although inserted in a manuscript copied in England at Salisbury, the vernacular words of the text are not in Old English. The essay makes a case for a possible connection with Flanders, with the text being one of the very rare surviving specimen of the Old Low Franconian language.
High accuracy Raman measurements using the Stokes and anti-Stokes lines

We show that by measuring the separation between the Stokes and anti-Stokes peaks excited by two different laser lines we obtain a very precise determination of absolute phonon energies. The method is useful for measuring small changes of these energies with strain, temperature, laser power, etc. It doubles the changes and avoids the necessity of using the reference lines in the Raman spectra. The method can be applied for the determination of phonon deformation potentials, for the characterization of strained heteroepitaxial layers, and for micro-Raman analysis of strain in silicon integrated circuits. Pielgrzymka Ślązaków do Rzymu i Viterbo w 1967 r. Na drodze polsko-niemieckiego pojednania

W dniach od 11 do 21 maja 1967 r. grupa 641 niemieckich Ślązaków pielgrzymowała do Rzymu i Viterbo. Ich celem było wspólne dziękczynienie za dar kanonizacji św. Jadwigi, jakiej w 1267 r. dokonał w Viterbo papież Klemens IV. W taki sposób chciano publicznie zamanifestować obecność Ślązaków w przestrzeni publicznej. W Rzymie i Viterbo modlono się wspólnie za śląską ojczyznę i śląskie rodziny, podzielone poglądami politycznymi, narodowymi i wreszcie żelazną kurtyną. Główne uroczystości dziękczynne miały miejsce w katedrze w Viterbo. Dodatkowo świętowano 100. rocznicę powstania śląskiej grupy maltańskiej, którym patronuje św. The existence of two radioactive species of154Pm (1.8 min ground state and 2.65 min isomer) is established. The Nilsson model configurations assigned to these states give evidence against the validity of the Gallagher-Moszkowski coupling rules in154Pm.
